Meet “Wonderland” aka Allie. Allie is a 12 year old Pony of the Americas. She measures as a large pony (measuring at 13.3 3/4 h) and is a beautiful mover. She has a nice barrel and takes up a lot of leg. My daughter (the rider in the photos and video) is 5’6” for perspective.
Before coming to us, Allie was used as a lesson pony for about three years, but we would love to see her finally get her own special kid. She is well educated on the flat, has her lead changes (although you must ask for them-not auto), rides bareback, is jumping 2 foot +courses with ease, and can even collect up into a dressage frame (so she’d be a lovely lower level dressage pony or Pony Club mount). Before beginning work with us (following her time as a school pony), her prior owner shared that she could be more forward to fences. However we have generally seen that she maintains a good measured rhythm over fences since we’ve owned her. Allie is not a kick and spur type ride but is generally more forward thinking. For that reason, she is best suited for an advanced beginner or intermediate level rider if she will be asked to jump.
Allie is up to date on everything and is barefoot with terrific feet. She enjoys living outside 24/7, but can be stalled near friends for part of the day if preferred.
At a show, she will be a little anxious in her stall when she first arrives. However, she settles down quickly (especially if you feed her!) and is quiet and very well behaved for the rest of the show. She loves to walk around the show grounds and lunges quietly without drama (but does not require a lunge to show). She also stands quietly at the trailer for shop on shows or clinics.
Allie is easy to handle on the ground. She clips, trailers easily, and cross ties. The only quirky thing we’ve noticed that she does when grooming (or with the farrier) once in awhile, is she will try to take her right hoof away from you when you are trying to pick it out. She will give it back, but it must be a little game she learned in her school pony days!
Has shown in her past school pony life, but I have no videos from that time. We did take her to a show recently and she was terrific! Show videos below. She was started late (at age 7) so plenty of wonderful years left.
