"OG" is a sweet, quiet natured gelding who has developed skills in many areas, with a show record in hunters, jumpers, eventing, dressage, as well as proved a safe, reliable mount in lessons and trail riding.
He has shown at HITS Chicago with a pro in the baby greens, then piloted by a junior in the children's hunter division, as well as jumper rounds with a junior, taking home ribbons across the board. OG has his own motor, while maintaining excellent adjustability and plenty of forgiveness for any mistake a rider can make. He displays cleverness to his fences and a love for his job. His changes are almost auto- about 75% of the time they are, and is uncomplicated to ask for one on demand. His transitions are easy and comfortable, making him enjoyable for students and amateurs. In the jumper ring, OG displays plenty of scope and competitiveness which would find success while continuing up the levels.
In the eventing realm, OG has shown in multiple USEA events, usually earning a ribbon regardless of rider error. He has shown recognized through BN across Area VIII, as well as several successful schooling events and derbies through Novice across multiple areas. He is straightforward and brave, and has the makings of an amateur friendly Prelim horse as his education continues.
Outside of his competition success, OG has provided several levels of students with a great partner to learn with, showcasing his kind, forgiving nature. He can pack around walk trot students stepping over ground poles one day, jump through 3'3" gymnastics with a competitive junior the next, and take a nervous AA around cross country after that. He has been a barn favorite for parents who wanted a chance to go on a trail ride with their child, and he will happily pick his way down a rocky hill, cross rivers, admire the wildlife, and step over any logs.
The Real OG requires no maintenance, has remained barefoot for the entirety of his time in our program, and has no vices. He happily lives out or in, but prefers a stall in inclement weather. OG is a gentleman for the farrier, vet, trailering, tying, bathing, blanketing, grooming, tacking, braiding, etc. He is regularly led to and from his field by my eight year old niece.
