Notes

Flashy, kind, and ambitious mare looking for a great fit to take her the rest of the way. Much loved, respectful, and deserving of the best of homes. 1.10-1.15 m. prospect--price to increase this spring/summer according to show record.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Gracie (JC name Way Over Budget) is eager to please and brave to the jumps. She’s exceptionally athletic, quick to learn, and LOVES her job. Well-suited for the jumper ring or cross country due to her enormous stride and lack of stop, though she also has a dressage background. Her pedigree includes several big names such as A.P. Indy, Seattle Slew, Mr. Prospector, and Storm Cat, among others.

Gracie is a muscular 16.1, has no vices, requires no hormones (not at all mareish), and is sound. She has beautiful auto flying changes and the cutest rounded jump. She rides like a sports car and is super fun with the BEST attitude. Her lateral flexion is quite nice, and she is continuing to develop self carriage now that her topline is solid.

She is suitable for a confident teen working with a trainer or an AA on a budget looking for a horse with a strong foundation to continue bringing up the levels. Her progress in the past 1.5 years has blown us all away, and she deserves someone who will dote on her and continue her development! No beginners or riders without a trainer, please.

DETAILS:
Since October 2023, Gracie has been in a professional program ridden 4-5 times weekly (including one weekly pro ride with our dressage instructor, a silver and bronze medalist). She is healthy, fit, and show ready for the 2025 season!

Gracie continues to impress me and our trainers as she puts the pieces together and eagerly applies what she’s learned. She is a hardworking, sensitive mare who prefers a competent rider with a soft hand—really in the winter, when she throws some bucks and likes to remind me she was a racehorse (never a rear or other extreme/aggressive behaviors).

She requires an intermediate rider with a solid seat who can maintain boundaries, but she goes beautifully in a snaffle and respects the rules you set. The more balance and muscle she’s gained, the more well-paced and confident she’s become. In the summer, her spice quiets down significantly, but the ability to turn on the speed and power remain in your back pocket for the jump off or XC course!

She was shown twice in PA/NJ this fall and made us so proud while trailering/off property. We'll continue to show her this spring and summer if she hasn’t found her person yet.

TEMPERAMENT:
Gracie has EXCELLENT ground manners for her rider, farrier, dentist, and vet. She wears front shoes. She is curious and gentle—wouldn’t dream of nipping, kicking, or being otherwise grumpy. In turnout, she’s at the top of the pack, but is not a bully. She always comes in from the field exceptionally clean. She’s a total princess who keeps her blankets and tack in tip top condition.

There’s not a mean bone in her body, but Gracie does exhibit some (non-extreme) anxiousness from time to time, managed well by engaging her brain to help her refocus. More than any horse I’ve ridden, she THRIVES on positive reinforcement (she’s a cookie vacuum and requires plenty of affection). I know this horse inside and out and will pass on the handbook!

VETTING/PPE:
Gracie may require minimal maintenance once yearly (though FEI vet is very pleased with her overall condition and mentioned she may well not require further Pro-Stride injections on her RF fetlock—related to an old track injury). No vet/trainer concerns or limitations, and she will pass a PPE with flexions. All vet/vaccine/dental records I have (including clean RF X-rays from 2024) will be shared.

I’ll post additional photos and videos over higher fences in the arena and field as I collect them. Happy to answer any questions and share all details!
