2013 16.1 hand TB Gelding - Hunter

Notes

Not everyone has the $50,000 to $100,000+ that it takes to buy a Warmblood prospect that might one day compete for top prizes at the big shows. Luckily for those folks, "Slim Shady" is currently available for sale. He's that incredibly special TB who's talented enough to play with the big kids at the big shows, quiet enough for a novice or intermediate rider, and affordable for those who just dont have the patience or the $50 - $100,000 to purchase a very green, young, one-day 3ft or higher Warmblood.

An 11 year old, 16.1h gelding, "Slim Shady" aka "Archie" simply jumps as well or better than any horse at the horse show, easily covers the lines and has an automatic lead change. He's got a great brain, goes in a rubber or happy mouth snaffle, and is so quiet that spurs are virtually always a requirement. He is 100% brave, honest and forgiving, and is completely sound with very basic maintenance. He has a lovely canter and fantastic presence in the show ring, which the judges love, as he wins virtually everywhere and every time he shows, in both Adult and pro-divisions with an Adult Amateur in the irons (Swan Lake, PG Equestrian, McDonogh, Derby venues etc). He schools regularly at home over 2'9", and he promises to be a fantastic 3' horse, where his extraordinary jump, fantastic ring presence and lovely way of going promise to keep him competing for top ribbons in the Children's or Adults (and one day in the Juniors or A/Os?) at even the biggest shows and even against great company. The only reason he hasn't shown at 3' yet is that his Lessee, whose lease just ended in October, was simply not brave enough to jump the bigger jumps.

In addition to the blues and tri-colors that perpetually go home with him from the "open" Adult and pro divisions, Archie has won countless TB hunter awards, including multiple Champion TIP Horse and top prizes at TB Benefit Shows. Additionally, he's super-handy, always game, and loves to jump in and out of or between rings. He won several derbies this year, earning the CPJHSA (PA) Grand Champion Derby horse award this past season.

Dependable and trustworthy, Archie loves to be ridden both in the ring and out, alone or in company. He's throughly happy any time he can work in the field or just walk/trot our trails. He's the same quiet (lazy?) horse every time he comes out of the barn. He needs virtually no prep, has never seen the end of a lunge line, nor does he need to be "ridden down" at the shows. He basically walks off the trailer and directly into the show ring with his Adult Am rider.

He has tremendous patience and takes a joke with no fuss or sass, making him a great horse for any level of rider to learn and win on. He's the unique horse that can take his novice rider from the 2' Long Stirrups and the Pre's to the 3 ft Children's or Adults and potentially to the Jrs and A/Os.

To say that Archie is "special" is to dramatically understate the case. He's nothing short of a pleasure to have in the barn, loves any affection offered him, and does everything he can to please his rider. Oh yeah, and the fact that he turns the judges' heads because he jumps better than any of his competition is also a pretty nice bonus!

Archie is owned and offered for sale by Finer Points Farm and Michael and Emily Friedman in Mount Airy, MD. We encourage you to check out our website, www.finerpointsfarm.com, and inquire as to our reputation in the community for honesty and trustworthiness. We are committed to complete transparency in every aspect of our business and especially in the sale of our horses. Our horses are our family, so finding the best homes and the "right" match for them is a huge priority - just finding a buyer is not nearly enough. We will commit to
share with you everything we know about every horse we offer for sale, both good and bad (though there's not a lot of the latter with Archie), and we're 100% dedicated to working WITH our prospective buyers to help determine if the horse is right for the buyer, the job and the lifestyle, as well as whether the job and life is right for the horse. We aim to have every purchaser feel as if they completely understand everything about the horse, prior to PPE and purchase.

We are always willing to share any recent radiographs we have, (though there are very few for Archie, as he's remained sound and healthy for the 2 1/2 years he's been with us. Remarkably, he's only been off the track for a few years and didnt walk into a training ring until the spring of 2022 - in short, he's obviously a natural show hunter). We traditionally do not allow our horses out for trials at other barns, though, when necessary, we are happy to provide you an opportunity to see and ride our sale horses away from home and as many times as is required for you to feel confident you "know" the horse you're seeking to purchase.

See the links to two videos of Archie and his 2024 lessee, one indoors and one outside, and one more outside at Swan Lake last month.

Please call, text or email me with any further questions and/or to set up a day and time to come see and ride Archie. He is precisely as advertised here and will almost surely exceed your expectations in his demeanor, his behavior, his brain and his talent.
