Serendipity (“Balou”) is a 17.3hh 2018 Brandenburg gelding imported in 2023. He is a versatile three ring horse, with a solid hunter background including some national derbies, and a few equitation classes, and has recently transitioned into the jumper ring up to 1.20m with ease.
Balou has a very honest and willing way of going. He is a horse who genuinely tries for his person and consistently helps his rider to the jumps. He always wants to do the right thing and is extremely forgiving of mistakes. He is sensitive, but has well established flatwork with a beautiful floaty trot and a very adjustable canter. He understands his lateral work and has reliable easy lead changes. He has a soft, quiet mouth and offers a smooth and comfortable ride both on the flat and over fences.
On the ground, he is very sweet and gentle, truly thriving on praise and attention. He loves to be doted on, takes treats softly, ties and cross-ties well, enjoys grooming, and is a pleasure to handle. He lives at home with his amateur owner, but hauls out regularly to lessons and shows, and remains in a consistent training program. He is good for the vet and farrier, gets along well with other horses, and has always been sound and happy in his work.
